So, my human took off in a whirlwind, leaving me with the medium sized human for the next couple of weeks. You might think I'd be upset, but nope! I'm thrilled. You see, my human went off to some place called the "Overland Expo Mountain West." They thought it was going to be like the indoor "Moore Expo" (whatever that is), but surprise, surprise! It turned out to be massive, with over 300+ exhibitors. And guess what? It was all outdoors. Pretty cool, right? Well, not for them because they left me behind, but that’s fine by me. While they’re off roughing it, I’ve been ruling the house!
The best part about this staycation? I’m in charge now. Yep, you heard that right! My medium human might think they're the boss, but between you and me, it’s really me running the show. And don’t even get me started on the cats, Milo and Tigger. These two furballs act like they’re in charge, but come on. I think we all know who the real boss is here.
Tigger’s been a bit of a challenge—cats can be like that, thinking they’re royalty—but I’m pretty sure he’s warming up to me. Yesterday, we actually napped together. Yeah, shocking, I know. Usually, he’s all aloof and too cool for canine company, but I’m winning him over. Just a matter of time before he realizes that dogs are superior in every way. Milo, on the other hand, still acts like she owns the place, but I’m keeping a close eye on him.
Let’s talk about my medium human for a second. They’ve been extra attentive, giving me long walks, belly rubs, and so many extra treats I almost lost count. And I have to admit, I’m being a bit of a saint just to keep those snacks coming. But hey, a dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do.
While I’m enjoying the royal treatment at home, I hear my human is off at this "Overland Expo" looking at all sorts of outdoor gear. This gave me an idea! If you're into camping, hiking, or just getting out in nature like me, you should check out some gear for your own adventures. Whether it’s for your humans or for us furry adventurers, having the right stuff can make all the difference.
Here are some things my human has mentioned that you might find handy:
- Collapsible Dog Bowls: Perfect for keeping hydrated on the go. Trust me, nothing’s worse than being out on a long hike and realizing you forgot my water. I’ll wait while you grab one.
- Dog Hiking Backpack: Sometimes, even I need to carry my own treats (and toys, of course). A backpack designed just for dogs is not only practical, but it also makes me feel important. Plus, it’s fun to show off to other dogs on the trail.
- Pet First Aid Kit: Better safe than sorry. Even though I’m basically invincible, accidents happen. Having a pet-specific first aid kit is smart—your human can patch you up before heading to the vet.
- Camping Tent for Dogs: If your humans like camping, why not have your own little tent? A cozy space just for me would be a dream come true. That way, I don’t have to sleep at my human's feet—unless I want to.
If you're feeling the itch to explore the great outdoors, be sure to check out some of the affiliate links I’ve paw-picked for you. After all, we dogs love adventure, and it’s about time we had the right gear to go along with our enthusiastic tails!
Well, I’m off to give Milo and Tigger the stink-eye and see if I can squeeze a few more treats out of the medium human. Maybe I’ll even convince them to take me on another walk. A little fresh air is always good for clearing the mind... and sniffing out squirrels.
Remember, dogs rule, cats drool. Until next time, stay adventurous!
Your pal,
Astrid 🐾
