Hey there, adventurers! It’s me, Billy the Jeep, coming to you live (well, not literally, but you get the idea) from Steamboat Springs, Colorado! I’ve been all over the place with my humans, and let me tell you—this stop was one for the books. So buckle up, because I’ve got the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a Jeep in Steamboat!
Getting to Steamboat Springs – My Time to Shine (Or, Relax!)
After a long drive, we finally arrived in Steamboat Springs. I was relieved, to say the least. You see, my humans had to adjust to the elevation, but lucky for me, I didn’t need to do much except rest up. While they huffed and puffed exploring the town, I got to catch up on some much-needed Jeep naps. Honestly, I deserved it after all the miles we’ve covered together.
They stayed at the Steamboat KOA, just outside of town. This was a sweet spot for me to park, surrounded by nature and the sound of a nearby river. We tested out our brand new FSR tent, which I must say looked pretty awesome on top of me. Nothing like some fresh air and a scenic spot by the water to make a Jeep feel at home. Oh, and that breeze? Top notch.
The KOA: Bears, Bathrooms, and Beautiful Scenery
Now, my humans were a little less thrilled about the bathroom situation. Imagine this: the tent sites are by the water, but the bathrooms are far away, tucked near the RVs. The RVs, mind you, have bathrooms built in—so why the long trek? I don’t have an answer for that. And to add to their concerns, they were warned about a
black bear roaming around at night. While I’m not too worried about bears (I’m a Jeep, after all), my humans were on high alert whenever nature called.
Despite the bear news, we made the best of it. The KOA was peaceful, and that breeze by the water kept things cool, even in the warmth of late summer.
The Steamboat Free Bus: A Game-Changer
One thing that made this KOA even better was the free bus that took my humans into town. They loved hopping on and off, cruising through town with ease. No need for me to drive them around this time—I got to stay parked while they explored.
They rode that bus every day, hitting all the local spots: breakfast at cozy cafés, window shopping in the charming little stores, and even indulging at the candy shop (which, might I add, smelled incredible). My humans also hit up a few free museums—I’m not sure what those are all about, but they seemed pretty excited about them.
Steamboat’s Big Draw: The Ski Lift (For Next Time!)
Now, Steamboat Springs is known for its epic ski lift in the winter. We were a little early for that, with the weather still warm and sunny. No complaints here—I like the warm weather, but my humans are already talking about coming back in the winter for some snow action. I’ll be ready when they are. I can already picture it now: me, parked in the snow, looking rugged and tough, while they hit the slopes.
Until then, we soaked in all the small-town charm that Steamboat had to offer. With mountains in the background and the hum of the river next to us, it was hard to leave.
Wrapping Up: A Jeep’s Reflection
All in all, Steamboat Springs was a great spot for me to chill while my humans explored. The KOA gave us a cozy home base, the town had enough to keep my humans busy, and the free bus meant I didn’t even have to move an inch!
Next time we’re back, I’ll be ready for the winter adventure. Until then, I’ll keep rolling with my humans on our next adventure. Stay tuned for more Jeep tales from the road!
Safe travels,
Billy the Jeep 🛻
